The active ingredients of tea: beyond the enjoyment

A nice cup of tea invigorates our body and soul, but why? Why is it delicious and enjoyable? Is it because of its unique taste and smell? Many are not aware, but tea actually helps our body to function appropriately.

There are countless important substances in tea leaves: for example, polyphenols, providing a little sour flavor; methylxanthine, caffeine (almost four percent of tea leaves), different lipids, amino acids, mineral substances and volatile compounds. For example, green tea enhances metabolism, so it has fat burning effect: due to accelerated metabolism, fewer calories infiltrate into the body. TeaAntioxidants in tea neutralize free radicals that may play a role in the development of cancer.

In black and white

Black tea is most important for the prevention of heart diseases: a few cups of black tea a day keeps the heart in check and reduces the chance of stroke and blocked blood vessels. In case of a cold, you should not only drink tea because it is hot, neither only because it can be filled with honey, the advantages of which makes a long list. When you have a flu, tea is especially good for you because its chemical substances stimulate the immune system and help you fight against pathogens.

Coffee or tea?

Tea, like coffee, contains a considerable amount of caffeine. However, it exercises its freshening influence in a different way: while coffee absorbs immediately, tea absorbs slowly and gradually. Therefore, its invigorating effect is not only felt for longer (usually for five hours), but it also cares of the body more, does not irritate the stomach and does not cause high blood pressure or heart pounding.

Of course, black tea (especially those from Ceylon and India) are more difficult to "trick" because of their high theine content, but those with a sensitive system should also be careful with green tea and Chinese flower teas, too.
