Anti-Candida diet
The fungus bearing the name Candida albicans is to be found in all of our bodies, and its presence is absolutely useful for the digestive process. However, due to improper lifestyle, this type of fungus is prone to multiply, thus upsetting the balanced function of our body. It is worth watching out for Candida and it is good to know that there is a diet that can help keep Candida in check.
Every healthy body has a balanced intestinal flora that tips over when one eats too much sugar, protein, calories or additional substances. These destruct our digestive system in the course of time, so the fungus overgrown in the bowels gets into other parts of the body, too. Thus the centers of infection appear in different places every time, making it very difficult to diagnose the fungus infection exactly. There can be skin diseases, symptoms related to the nerve system, urological or gynecologic problems, in some cases stomach-related problems - Candida is often to blame in the bulk of these cases. The only solution when any of this happens is to eliminate the fungus from the body, so first one has to eliminate the substance the fungus feeds on. This means that a strict diet of absolutely no yeast and carbohydrate is a must. So, sugar (even artificial sweeteners containing fructose) are out from the diet, and one must also forget about food containing any yeast, such as bread, rice or kinds of pasta. Yeast-based products are also unadvised during the diet one has to be careful even with meat, it is only recommended to consume lean meat, what is more one must even avoid preservatives, since that preservative substance is often honey or sugar.
What you can and must eat
It is important to know that women cope with Candida much slower than men, so in their case, Anti-Candida diet is 3-6 months long. This seems much at first, but the first 2-3 weeks are the most important, this is where you have to make the big sacrifices. In this period you should avoid lean cheese (fatty or ripened cheese is to be avoided all the way), milk, peas, corn, apple, pear, pineapple or grapefruit, while later on you can resume eating them. It is good to know that there is a certain substance in the seed of grapefruit that has fungus-killing effect. You may use this after the first month, it is best to take it in the form of seed oil from pharmacies. It is also crucial that during the period of the diet, all vegetables and fruit you eat must be fresh. Out of vitamins, you will need vitamins A, B1, B3, B6, C and E in the first place, plus of course, suitable mineral substances. The kinds of food that you can take as much as you want from are lean meat, fish, bran, barley, lentils, oats, plain yoghurt with active flora, eggs, fresh vegetables and fruit (with the exceptions above), walnut, pumpkin seed and sesame seed. You will also find a lot of seasonings useful, such as curry, coriander, rosemary, saffron, caraway or basil. Alcohol should be completely avoided, but if that is impossible for you, half a glass might go (very rarely), but you should not drink beer under any circumstances, since it is based on yeast. White bread should be replaced with all-rye, bran or graham bread, but you might also bake bread at home, free of any additives - this usually lasts longer, too. It is worth making these sacrifices, for you can solve numerous problems, not to mention lose weight with the program. Your body will be grateful for the care and you will soon feel more comfortable in your skin, which will also be noticed by the people around you.
