All about lemon

It is widely known about lemon that it is outstandingly reach in vitamin C. What is not that a well-known fact is that lemon is also our most valuable detoxifier fruit.

Lemon comes from India, from where it spread further only in the 10th-11th centuries, it is thus one of those fruits that were not "already used by the ancient Greeks". Today it is widely spread throughout the world, and its fields of use are diverse: in certain regions, it is even used as anti-hair loss and anti-dandruff products mixed with avocado or almond oil.

Vitamin C

As most commonly known feature, lemon has a considerable amount on vitamin C, and it is often used accordingly as prevention, and cure as well as to ease the symptoms of flu-related illnesses.. Lemon also contains germanium and bioflavonoid, which have special detoxifying and toxin-dissolving effect. As for its mineral content, phosphorus and potassium should be mentioned.

Culinary uses of lemon are diverse: its really sour juice and skin with its characteristic aroma are excellent seasoning not only for sweets and bottled fruits but for meat (especially fish) and for soups, too. If you use lemon skin as an ingredient, you have to be very careful with cleaning it. Many people also use lemon as seasoning in salads instead of vinegar, because it is similarly bitter, but provides a smoother, richer taste.

Although lemon ring is an indispensable addition for cocktails, lime is rather used for beverages, for it has a much more characteristic taste than lemon. Many people prefer lime to lemon also when preparing bitter sauces.

Essential oil can be gained from lemon skin through pressing, filtering, spin-drying and steam distillation. This essential oil retains the anti-microbial and anti-viral effect of lemon, so it does not only perfume spaces but also disinfects them, and it is often used as a basis for cosmetic products.
